  1. Dalit Empowerment and Inclusion Project

This project was conducted from Jan 2005 to August 2006 supported by DEIP/CSP

/DNF. Following activities were carried out under this project: after identification of 8 communities and selection of trainees.

  1. Facilitation skill training to community facilitators.
  2. Job orientation training to the project staff.
  3. Livelihood and Right based approach training to community facilitator.
  4. Needs assessment of the identified communities on livelihoods and rights issues including exact identification of the households and their detailed profile.
  5. Based on need assessment and the profile, design and develop CEP programmers, targeted to mobilization and livelihoods empowerment of the communities by organizing assimilation workshops at the district level.
  6. Formation of a pressure group, at, the district level, as watch body.
  7. .Coordination with all concerned stakeholders.
  8. .Plan and implements / arrange organize exposure visits for district as well as community level Dalit activities representatives.
  9. Contribute, coordinate and facilitate the implementation of innovative initiatives undertaken by the local DNGOs within as well as the neighboring district.
  10. Facilitate CEP audit in the district.

DNGO and local government representatives attended the workshop. Other persons who were to be involved affected by the community enabling programmes attended the workshop. .The workshops meetings were organized in coordination with the local government bodies.

  1. Other Activities

Dalit Society Development Forum has been working with further coordinated partnership with local level government bodies, social institutions, club, women forum, Woman human right defenders, social activist, mothers' and girls' group in its series of operating their activities. DSDF has also good networks and partnerships with Dalit NGO Federation in order to address burning issues of 3D communities. Since social branch of provincial government has also good network with DSDF, branch of provincial government supported the small fund  to honour elderly citizen and to launch elderly empowerment program. It has also partnership with Dalit Society Welfare Association for Dalit empowerment program. In addition, DSDF has been supporting to launch health awareness, environmental preservation and disaster management campaign in coordinated partnership with local government bodies, local NGO and activists.

  1.  Key Successes
  1.  Girls could ventilate their problems in the group after having carried out capacity building training.
  2. The rate of child marriage seems to have decreased as one of the case studies indicated.
  3. Those girls who participated in their capacity building training started raising their voices against child marriage.
  4. All the concerned stakeholders have been raising their voices against child marriage.
  5. Looking at DSDF activities, Melauli Municipality has allocatedRs. 300,000 to the DSDF for their eduction of child marriage.
  6. The Judicial Committee has committed action plan to have access of justice and to end child marriage.
  7. Commitment to move ahead by involvement of man action plan to end any stereotype thought and malpractices marriage.
  8. Jingle, information prepared through FM, has alerted 500 families around the community.
  9. Concerned stakeholders along with media committed to end child marriage.
